Hummus and homemade tahini
Hummus is a puree of chickpeas made from sesame seed paste that is eaten with pita bread or raw vegetables. You can buy sesame seed paste (called tahine, tahini, tahin, or tahina) ready-made or make it homemade like in our recipe. In fact, if it is not always easy to find this sesame paste, preparing it is child’s play.
Ingredients :
- 1 jar of chickpeas (400 g drained)
- 2 cloves garlic
- 100g tahini
- 1 lemon
- salt
- cumin powder
- a little juice from the chickpeas
- 1 drizzle olive oil or sesame oil
- For the homemade tahini:
- 50g golden sesame seeds
- 50 g neutral vegetable oil (here we used 35 g olive oil and 15 g sesame oil)

For the tapiné: in hoursni-chopper or using an immersion blender, mix the sesame seeds with the oil until you obtain a smooth cream.

Drain the chickpeas and reserve the juice. Also reserve a few chickpeas to decorate your hummus. In the bowl of your food processor, mix the tahini and the peeled and degermed garlic cloves. Add the drained chickpeas and lemon juice. Mix. Salt and add cumin according to your taste.

Add a little juice from the chickpeas to obtain the consistency you prefer, smooth but more or less thick. Dump your hummus into your presentation bowl. Swirl the top with a spoon and drizzle some olive or sesame oil over it. Add a few chickpeas for decoration, sprinkle with ground cumin and sprinkle sesame seeds on your homemade hummus.

Tips
You can use dried chickpeas that you will have soaked the day before cooking them or like here, use a jar of chickpeas in juice. Serve your hummus with homemade crackers and vegetable sticks.
