Café crème is an essential classic of French coffees. As its name suggests, the coffee here is topped with a generous layer of whipped cream, unlike the cappuccino, which is covered with milk froth. Here is an ultra simple and quick recipe, to give you a gourmet break at coffee time.
- 4 double espresso coffees
- 12 cl very cold liquid full cream
- 2 tbsp. tsp icing sugar (optional)
Preparation 5 minutes
Whip the very cold cream with a hand mixer. See Tips at the end of the recipe for successful whipped cream every time.
If you want to give a sweet taste to your café crème, add the icing sugar at the end of whipping your cream to tighten it.
Pour 4 double espresso coffees into coffee cups.
Gently cover each cup with the same amount of whipped cream and enjoy
For a café crème with a nice whipped cream, put the cream in hoursxing bowl 1 hour before whipping it in the refrigerator. For best results, also put the mixer beater(s) in the cold. Thus, you are sure to whip the cream quickly and well.
